About the museum shop

Walther König’s bookstore is an important element in the wide variety of exceptional services offered to Haus der Kunst visitors. The interior design is more like a library than a conventional bookstore, in that the books are presented mostly as pictorial objects, their front covers being prominently displayed.

Besides the categories of art, photography, design, architecture, youth and children’s books, new publications are given a lot of space. The themes of running exhibitions are presented both permanently and alternatively. The range of books and catalogues is complemented by an impressive art shop.

Ordering from the museum shop

You can order Haus der Kunst catalogues and exhibition posters by email or telephone.
Postage costs are 6 € per catalogue, 3 € per poster (folded) or 6 € (rolled)

Mucarts Sail & Art

The company Sail & Art has been producing the façade banners for Haus der Kunst for many years. The entrepreneur Hansjörg Schäfer has initiated a joint upcycling project in cooperation with various museums in the midst of the pandemic. Via their online shop MUCARTS, they sell bags and products made from the old banners of Haus der Kunst and Lenbachhaus. In Geretsried in Bavaria, a whole range of messenger bags, shoppers and pencil cases are produced from the exhibition banners. Hansjörg Schäfer's initiative not only secures jobs in the region. Above all, it makes ecological sense, as something new is created from the very durable material. Less waste and short transport routes mean less burden on the environment. At the same time, each bag is unique and, for art fans, a great reminder of an inspiring visit to an exhibition.
