In spring 2026, a community garden will be created on the lawn between Haus der Kunst and the Eisbach. The intention is to create a vibrant space for coming together, sharing and enjoying ourselves, one that will be built, shaped and maintained as sustainably as possible. During the course of several action days, we will learn about all aspects of the community garden and get together to take action. Together, we’ll take care of the seedlings, the construction of the raised beds and the planting. We also want to dig into how we’ll maintain it and what we need to build a sustainable community and practices.

Would you like to get involved and become part of a gardening community? Then please feel free to join us on one of the action days! There you’ll have the chance to meet new people and get actively involved in the project.

Programme

February 2026

During Open Haus in February, we began growing various vegetable plants together. Participants were able to take them home to care for them there. The plants will also be growing in the offices of Haus der Kunst staff over the coming months.

March 2026

At Open Haus March we continued building the insect house, which will be part of the community garden.

April 2026

At Open Haus in April and MMMHaus we plan to build up to 10 raised beds on the green area between Haus der Kunst and the Eisbach. On both days, we’ll be building the different raised beds together. We’ll kick off at 2 pm each day and carry on working until 7 pm. The raised beds will be roll-up accessible and of varying heights, so that everyone can really get in on the gardening action in the community garden. Once we’ve built the raised beds, we’ll fill them in layers with branches, leaves and soil.

May 2026

The community around the raised beds is growing. Together, we’ll plant the seedlings we’ve grown in February in the raised beds.
