In July, acclaimed Danish musician and poet Elias Rønnenfelt comes to Haus der Kunst as part of TUNE, presenting two concerts: his solo performance on the first evening and a collaboration with Gabriel Ferrandini on the second. Additionally, he will take part in an artist talk.
Elias Rønnenfelt is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the critically acclaimed band Iceage, which he co-founded when he was 16 years old. After over a decade of album releases and world tours, and a side project called Marching Church, in 2024 Rønnenfelt released his debut solo album, Heavy Glory, a raw and introspective work that tells tales of inspiration and perseverance in the face of chaos, isolation and excess. He wrote the material while on the road alone with his guitar, playing shows along the way sometimes in forests, living rooms, bookstores, and chapels.
Rønnenfelt has a wider practice as a published poet and collaborated with visual artist Elizabeth Peyton for his debut book Sunken Heights, which was published by Anthology. Presented in both the original Danish and Rønnenfelt’s own English translation, the book balances fierce, primal reflections on the present with tender, romantic meditations on love, disillusionment, and emotional growth in a smoldering world.
Admission to the artist talk is free.
