Info

The December edition of TUNE is dedicated to the Berlin based artist Hye Young Sin. Hye Young Sin explores the interplay of sound, movement, form, and material through various artistic mediums, including performances, installations, sculptures, and compositions. Her practice highlights the acoustic qualities of everyday materials using small DIY motors, letting objects’ intrinsic materiality generate sound. Instead of synchronized rhythms, she creates subtle, unpredictable pulses that evolve into soundscapes and resonate with the surrounding space.

In two 40-minute workshops, Hye Young Sin invites children to discover the world of sound through play and imagination. The sessions are all about curiosity, creativity, and connection. They encourage turning waste into wonder, caring for our environment, and uncovering the hidden voices of the things around us.

Each child is asked to bring their own piece of trash, such as bottles, boxes, or wrappers, which will then be transformed into musical instruments. With the help of small, simple motor sets, these objects come alive, shaking, buzzing, and producing unexpected sounds. By making music together, children learn how even the most ordinary objects can tell stories and hold value.

Recommended age: The workshop is especially designed for children aged 8 to 12. Children and parents can join the performance after the workshop at 4 pm.
