Archives address the future. Their fascination as repositories of knowledge and collective memory remains undiminished. They claim the power to shape interpretation while also bearing witness to what is left unsaid. Questions of representation and remembrance are always questions of social power.

In the exhibition, 17 artists from five continents develop their own historical and biographical models of empowerment and remembrance. Through subversive gestures and poetic interventions, they challenge the systems of order imposed by archives, uncover missing links, and disrupt the official readings of dominant narratives.

The exhibition explores how contemporary artists engage with archival strategies and methods. Three-dimensional sculptural works in a wide range of materials reveal their archival potential and enter into dialogue with video installations, photography, drawing, and performance.
