Lost Arc is an installation by the artist Paul Valentin (born in 1990 in Munich). A digital print with wall fleece depicts a distorted motif of a mysterious archive that reveals forgotten objects and untold stories. The real-time footage on the screen is sourced from the museum’s surveillance camera stationed at the entrance, which also decrypts the distorted wallpaper. This interactive approach provides visitors with an immersive experience that not only highlights these overlooked objects but also offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of the museum. In a subtle way, the objects tell from the history of Haus der Kunst and refer to things that the artist has used for past works.
The exhibition is accessible via the LSK Galerie or the staff entrance of Haus der Kunst on the side of the parking lot.
By means of the solo exhibitions in the staff entrance, Haus der Kunst unlocks a hidden space. The site-specific new production of this exhibition series, Lost Arc, serves not only as a pleasant surprise for employees during their daily commute, but also emphasises the significance of nurturing emerging artists from Munich.
