Mit Wassermusik präsentiert das Haus der Kunst die neue Ausstellung von Cyprien Gaillard (geb. 1980, Paris), die passend zum Ende des diesjährigen Oktoberfests eröffnet. Im Zentrum steht sein neuester stereoskopischer Film Retinal Rivalry (2024), der teilweise auf dem Münchner Oktoberfest gedreht und vom Haus der Kunst koproduziert wurde. Mit modernster Technologie erschafft Gaillard eine erweiterte, geschärfte Sicht auf die Welt um uns. Das Schlüsselwerk führt die Betrachter*innen auf eine Reise durch verflochtene Zeit und unzugängliche urbane Oberflächen: Müllcontainer und unterirdische Adern, feuchtwarme Landschaften und Ausblicke aus den Augen der Bavaria-Statue über das Oktoberfest. So tritt es in einen engen Dialog mit der Stadt München und ihrem weltweit größten Volksfest, und lässt dieses wie in einer seltsamen Erinnerung nachklingen, unterläuft gewohnte Wahrnehmungsmuster mit einem skulpturalen und psychedelischen Raum, und löst die Erzählung auf, um reine Vision zu offenbaren.
