History

The history of Haus der Kunst does not begin with its opening in 1937, but rather with the burning of the Glass Palace in 1931. On the occasion of its anniversary – 75 years since the opening of the "House of German Art" and 20 years since the establishment of the now-named Stiftung Haus der Kunst München GmbH - a unique exhibition will explore both the period before the Second World War and the years after 1945.

This section provides information on important dates and events in the Haus der Kunst's history, as well as on the development of the exhibition. The content and research opportunities will be continuously extended.
