But have we ever really understood what the slogan truly means and, above all, how subtly and with what methods this war has been and continues to be fought? The renowned media and visual arts theorist W.J.T. Mitchell explores the politics of language and images in the decade following 9/11 and encounters a simultaneously delicate and powerful constellation of metaphors and images, which creates its own fear-inducing reality and has enormous social and political implications.
