Symposium 75/20 Day 1: Panel discussion "Truth Effects"

That images cannot be trusted in today’s world may simply be a convenient fiction. If properly understood as the outcome of a complex set of processes that take place beyond the regime of representation, images can become revelatory of the numerous agendas they conceal and thus can begin to tell "truths" in unexpected ways. Moving away from old discussions about the uses and abuses of images, this panel attempts to reveal how, in the realm of contemporary art, "the invisible" behind the image is not merely exhibited but in fact performed, and consequently emancipated.
