About Conversation: Georg Baselitz and Sir Norman Rosenthal; moderated by Ulrich Wilmes%
As part of the exhibition "Georg Baselitz – Back then, in between, and today", a discussion between Georg Baselitz, Sir Norman Rosenthal, and Ulrich Wilmes took place. Sir Norman Rosenthal, one of the most renowned authorities of Baselitz's work, co-curated the legendary exhibition "A New Spirit in Painting" (1981) and was curator of Baselitz's most comprehensive retrospective to date, presented at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 2007. The exhibition in Haus der Kunst builds upon this retrospective and presents the renewal in form and content to which Baselitz repeatedly subjects his work using examples from the mid-1960s and later. The primary focus, however, is on Baselitz's newest series of works.
In the talk with Baselitz and Sir Norman Rosenthal, Ulrich Wilmes, chief curator of Haus der Kunst, discusses the concept of the current exhibition in light of Baselitz's most recent artistic development.
