About A speech by Edgar Selge on the occasion of the exhibition “Felix Brenner, Andreas Maus, Kar Hang Mui. euward8”%
The speech was given at the digital award ceremony of the euward8 and the simultaneous opening of the exhibition “Felix Brenner, Andreas Maus, Kar Hang Mui. euward8” on 29 April 2021 at Haus der Kunst.
Edgar Selge, an actor, has championed the euward (European Award for Painting and Graphics) for several years now.
Since 2000, the Augustinum Foundation has awarded the euward every three years to help artists working in the context of intellectual disability to gain visibility and recognition within the art world.
In 2014, Selge took over the patronage. At the time of opening, museums and cultural institutions in Germany were closed to head off the spread of COVID-19, which sparked a controversial discussion on the social significance of culture. Edgar Selge also addresses this controversy in his speech in a very personal way.
The 2021 euward was awarded to Andreas Maus (first prize), Felix Brenner (second prize) and Kar Hang Mui (third prize).
