Otobong Nkanga

Otobong Nkanga studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1995 to 2001 before completing a residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam in 2002/3. In 2013/14 Nkanga took part in the DAAD Berlin Artists-in-Residence Program. In addition to numerous solo exhibitions at various institutions, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Nottingham Contemporary, Beirut Art Center, Portikus in Frankfurt, MuHKA in Antwerp, Tate Modern in London, and Museum Folkwang in Essen, Nkanga has also participated in international group exhibitions. Notably, Nkanga’s work was shown at the Documenta 14 in Kassel and Athens (2017), 11th Gwangju Bienniale in South Korea (2016), 20th Sydney Biennale (2016), 31st Sao Paulo Biennale (2014), and the 8th Berlin Biennial (2014).
