Jan Erbelding

Jan Erbelding is an author, photographer and conceptual artist. Together with Leo Heinik and Maria VMier, he has been running the Munich Off-Space and the magazine Ruine München since 2017. His artistic practice is predominantly text-based and takes the form of performances, spatial installations and his own publications. Erbelding combines personal experiences and ideas with historical facts and figures, literary references and socio-political commentaries in order to create poetic narratives. After training as a photographer and studying media art and photography at the University of Design in Karlsruhe, Erbelding studied free art with Olaf Nicolai at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 2012 to 2016. The artist lives and works in Munich.
