Event overview

Beginning in autumn 2021, the Forum Queeres Archiv München e.V. will present an array of documents related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersexual culture of past decades as the “Archive in Residence” in Haus der Kunst’s Archive Gallery. Parts of the Forum’s poster collection is currently on view in the group exhibition “Sweat,” a testament to the active political and cultural commitment to social acceptance and visibility.

The posters inspired Philipp Gufler’s installation “I Wanna Give You Devotion” (2017 -) and are the starting point for the series “Queer his-, her-, and their-stories,” which traces queer history in Munich. The tours includes both exhibitions in Haus der Kunst and occasionally public spaces and other institutions.

To launch the series, the artist Philipp Gufler, an active member of the Forum since 2013, discusses his installation, for which he invited artist friends and collectives to survey, supplement, and update the poster collection. These references are presented together with historical posters, creating a dense network of current and historical material. Gufler tells the stories behind the documents and provides insight into his artistic research.

The series will continue in October.
