- Curator's tour in English
- 3 € plus admission
Guided by Sarah Johanna Theurer, curator of the exhibition, you will gain an in-depth insight into Fujiko Nakaya's life, work and environment, the planning of the exhibition and the collaboration with the artist.
The exhibition at Haus der Kunst is the first retrospective of the artist and sculptor Fujiko Nakaya (*1933 in Sapporo, Japan) outside Japan. Inspired by the ecological concerns that burgeoned in the 1970s, Nakaya has always worked with air and water and continues to do so today. Her fog sculptures challenge traditional notions of sculpture because they change at every moment depending on temperature, wind and atmosphere.
From the artist's early paintings to her fog sculptures, single-channel videos, installations, and documentaries that reveal Nakaya's cultural and social references, this exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of one of Japan's most important artists.
