Histories in Conflict — Curator-led tour
Curator-led tour 12.01.13, 11 am
"This year Haus der Kunst turns 75. The anniversary gives us an opportunity to reflect on the building – on its history, its stories and what it is today". (Okwui Enwezor)
The exhibition “Histories in Conflict: Haus der Kunst and the Ideological Uses of Art, 1937-1955” provides an examination of the Haus’ history and legacy with a broad new perspective. The complex and complicated historical process that made Haus der Kunst what it is today becomes comprehensible in the exhibition, which highlights, in particular, the first 18 years of its existence within its international context.
Historian Sabine Brantl, co-curator of the exhibition and author of a monograph on Haus der Kunst, guides visitors through the exhibition, shedding light on the institution’s background and ending the tour by accompanying participants into the building’s basement, where the Historical Archive and original boiler room are located.
Visit to the exhibition "Histories in Conflict" with a tour of the Historical Archive located in the Haus’ former boiler room.
