Ends of the Earth — Land Art to 1974

Nature – Sound – Visuals
For the artists in the exhibition, sites, forms, and materials in the landscape were as important as the transfer of these impressions into other media and forms of expression. They created art using the earth, stones, or plants, using photographs, maps, or texts. We experience Land Art in the exhibition, but allow ourselves to be inspired outside of the building.
Water, wind and the rustling of leaves: When VJing in the context of the Land Art exhibition, it is not a question of simply using movie sequences like, "I can see the grass growing and the butterfly gliding down from it." Rather, you will develop your own "natural sound", and then record, combine, manipulate, and distort it. Whether using images from nature or your own imagination, nature should not be depicted as it is, but reinvented — in ways that are eerie, hypnotically beautiful, or dramatic. You will experiment with sounds and images and use the computer to design a unique image-space-sound collage and then present your mysteriously compiled piece at the end of the workshop.
5 hours / € 30 per person / reservations required
VJ-ing can also be booked for private groups or a birthday party.

Ends of the Earth
Exhibition 11.10.12 – 20.01.13
As the first major museum exhibition on Land Art, "Ends of the Earth" provides the most comprehensive overview of this art movement to date. Land Art used the earth as its material and the land as its medium, thereby creating works beyond the familiar spatial framework of the art system. MORE
