Symposium: Panel discussion "Reconstruction of the Postwar-Museum"
Video, discussion 10.06.12, 11:45 am
Reconstruction of the Postwar Museum
Since its earliest planning phase in 1933, the “Haus der Deutschen Kunst” [House of German Art] was a symbol for the assertion of National Socialist art policy. Following the Second World War, the building again served as a symbol, this time for the return of Modernism to the place where Adolf Hitler's "cleansing war" had begun. The panel will discuss how the historically incriminated building has been dealt with since the postwar period; dealings that ultimately also reflect the complex process of coming to terms with ideology and power.
