Postwar: Art Between the Pacific and the Atlantic, 1945–1965

Workshop 6 until 12 years Saturday, 18.03, 11 am

ART LAB I: Imagery between representation and abstraction, chaos and order
How and what did artists around the world paint between 1945 and 1965? In order to discover the varied ways art developed in the second half of the 20th century, we journey through the exhibition, around the world, looking at works by selected artists from different countries and continents. Where and why do artists around the world deal with paint and color so differently? Both can be used to lend an object its form, as well as relay expression. Paint can be applied minimally, or transported onto the canvas with expressive gestures. Paint and color can flow together, but also used to delineate. Can colors also give form to feelings? In the workshop following the tour we will create our own large-scale paintings using more, or less, paint resulting in various effects.
