Concert series

Throughout its run, the exhibition "ECM — A Cultural Archaeology" was accompanied by a concert series featuring renowned performers. Here, you will find audio samples of all the participating musicians and ensembles. ECM artists include Jan Garbarek, Keith Jarrett, Charles Lloyd, Jason Moran, Meredith Monk, and Tomasz Stanko. As part of its New Series, the label publishes works by artists ranging from Perotin and Machaut to contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt, Steve Reich, and Heiner Goebbels, performed by musicians Gidon Kremer, Kim Kashkashian, Thomas Demenga, András Schiff, the Hilliard Ensemble, and many others.

The label ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) was founded in 1969 by Manfred Eicher in Munich in order to record, produce and publish avant-garde music. The exhibition focuses on the expansive cultural landscape in which ECM has worked since 1969. MORE

Over the past four decades, ECM's music has become an important resource for contemporary cinema. Label founder Manfred Eicher has immersed himself into film and collaborated extensively with filmmakers especially Jean-Luc Godard and Theo Angelopoulos. MORE
